Greece, New York is a town in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 96,096 at the 2010 census. Greece is a suburb of Rochester.
The Town of Greece was established in 1822 from part of the Town of Gates and was previously named North Greece. The name "Greece" was chosen because of the contemporary classical revival in Greece. The area was subsequently divided in 1858 into the Town of Greece and the Town of Gates.
In 1873, a portion of the town was taken to form the new Town of Clarkson. In 1874, another portion of the town was used to form the Town of Ogden. In 1892, a small part of Greece was annexed to the City of Rochester.
