Bingo in Wiggins, Mississippi
Just the Basics
I’ve never been much of a gambler. The thought of sitting in a casino all day, smoking cigarettes and drinking beer just doesn’t appeal to me. But every now and then I get the itch to play a little bingo. And when that happens, there’s only one place I go: Wiggins, Mississippi.
Wiggins is a small town (population 5,183 according to the 2010 census) located in Stone County, about 60 miles from the Gulf Coast. And while it might not be the first place you think of when you’re looking for a place to gamble, it’s definitely the place to go if you want to play bingo.
A Bit of History
Bingo in Wiggins dates back to the early 1990s when a group of women started playing at the American Legion hall. The game quickly caught on, and before long there were several bingo halls in town.
The first bingo hall in Wiggins was the Bayou Caddy Jubilee, which opened in 1994. The Jubilee was followed by the Palace Bingo Hall, which opened in 1996. Today, there are four bingo halls in Wiggins, and the town has become known as the “Bingo Capital of Mississippi.”
Why Wiggins?
So why do I love playing bingo in Wiggins? First of all, it’s convenient. There are four bingo halls in town, so no matter when I’m in the mood to play, there’s always a game to be found.
Second, the people in Wiggins are friendly. When you’re playing bingo, it’s not uncommon to strike up a conversation with your neighbor, and I’ve made some great friends over the years.
Finally, and most importantly, I’ve won some pretty big jackpots in Wiggins. In fact, I’ve won more money playing bingo in Wiggins than I have in any other town.
If You Go
If you’re ever in Wiggins and you’re looking for something to do, I highly recommend checking out one of the town’s bingo halls. Just remember to bring your lucky Charm, and don’t forget to say hi to me if you see me there!
